We are committed to ensuring that students have the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise, prevent and respond to harassment and sexual misconduct, understand consent, access support, report concerns, and contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive university community.

Mandatory Tackling Harassment training

All new and returning students are required to complete the Tackling Harassment online learning module as part of registration in every academic year of study at UEA.

Completion of this module is a mandatory requirement for all students, regardless of year group or level of study. The training forms a core part of the University's approach to preventing and addressing harassment and sexual misconduct and is a key element of UEA's compliance with the Office for Students (OfS) Condition E6 requirements.

The module helps students understand:

  • UEA's definitions of harassment and sexual misconduct
  • how to recognise inappropriate and unacceptable behaviours
  • how to report concerns
  • what support is available
  • the role each student plays in creating a positive campus culture

The University actively monitors completion of the module and follows up with students who have not completed this mandatory requirement.

To find out more about UEA's work to prevent harassment and sexual misconduct, including the University's wider approach to training and prevention, please visit the Tackling Harassment and Sexual Misconduct webpage.

These sessions can be delivered to Schools, clubs, societies and student groups, and several workshops are also available for individual students to attend.

Culture Check

This workshop supports clubs, societies and student groups to reflect on and evaluate the culture within their communities. Participants will identify existing strengths, explore areas for improvement and develop practical actions to promote inclusion, respect, wellbeing and belonging for all members.

All workshops can be shortened to fit a 50 to 60 minute time slot, although participants will gain the greatest benefit from the full session. Custom workshops can also be developed on request.
